Bekaa Kafra Village Near Bcharreh, the village of Bekaa Kafra is the highest in Lebanon. It is best known as the birthplace of Saint Charbel (1828-1898), to whom a large number of healing miracles have been attributed since his death. He was beatified in December 1965 and made a saint in November 1977. Of the several churches in the village, Saint Houshab is the oldest and Saint Joseph the largest. Saint Charbel’s tomb is in the Saint Maron Monastery cemetery in Annaya, Lebanon. |
